Let’s face it. The definition of success has changed. It used to mean that someone was successful when they had a fancy title, a corner office, and made lots of money. We worked hard, were always “busy,” and were proud of our “multi-tasking” abilities. We often paid attention to everyone else’s actions while wanting the “crowd’s approval.”
As time has changed and a global pandemic added to the midst of all this, people are reframing their views of success and making more personal decisions about what matters most.
Perhaps, you are one of them or maybe you’re thinking about a shift.
“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” ~ Mary Oliver
Here are three strategic points to get you moving in the right direction.
-Do you have a vision (goal) statement? When you read it, does it make you happy – or do you feel tense or stressed? (Hint: you want your vision statement to make you happy, excited, eager, and so on). Now is the time to let go of the “shoulds” and stop worrying about what everyone else is doing.
-What is your plan to get there? Do you have an annual, quarterly, monthly, weekly, and daily action plan? Have you taken the time to determine what needs to happen and what resources (time, energy, and money) are required?
-What blocks are in the way? What limiting/core beliefs are holding you back? What old stories are you telling yourself about what is possible? Where are you procrastinating? What action are you taking to reduce those blocks? (Hint: mindset is at least 90% of your success – or failure, so you must deal with the real and perceived blocks holding you back). My favorite technique (based on results, speed, and results) is tapping to shift your mindset and eliminate blocks.
Let’s focus more on your mindset with these three strategies.
-Do you start each day with a routine to bring you into a place of personal power (or the term I love to use, is are you showing up in your “brilliance?”)
-Have you switched to response mode instead of being a reactor? Reacting creates a lot of stress in your body, taking you further away from your ultimate goal, and…let’s face it, it just doesn’t feel very good.
-Do you have clarity on your priorities and what you can let go of? In other words, you may know how to do many things, but it doesn’t mean you need to volunteer to do them all. You want to treat your energy as a precious commodity and learn to say “no.”
My favorite methods for faster results are mindset techniques (tapping, neuroscience, and other resources I’m an expert in) and the appropriate strategies. For personal help, reach out.
You don’t need to wait until January 1st to create your plan for success. Start today. Set aside time and focus on what you want to create in your “one wild and precious life.”
