4 little words.  “Bright Shiny Object Syndrome”   25001189_s

Most entrepreneurs tend to follow the bright shiny light instead of being strategic and staying on path.

Every entrepreneur needs to have a solid foundation.  A base.  No matter what their level.  This foundation brings in income, a way of constantly attracting new clients and maintain/ keep existing clients.

Here’s where most entrepreneurs run amuck:

1)   Entrepreneurs get inpatient.  Things aren’t happening fast enough.  The money isn’t coming in fast enough so they move on to try something else

2)   Sometimes it’s to “keep up with the Jones”.  They see others doing something so they decide to do it, too.

3)   Or, it just looks cool and fun to do.

None of those are very good reasons for your business to go off course!

Recently, a conversation with one of my new clients started like this.  She wanted to plan an on-line course because “everyone” else was doing it.

Client:  This would be so cool to do.  Everyone is doing it.

Me:  How does this fit into your plan for this year?

Client:  But I’m so tired of cold calling.  It’s boring.  I don’t like doing it.  Not many people are signing up.

Me:  Let’s figure out what’s going on with your calls and why you’re not getting the results you want.  Sometimes all you need is a few shifts in what you’re doing to change their “no” into and excited “yes”.

Client:  That would be great.  I’d love that help.  But, truthfully, I also feel like a “used car salesman” making these calls.

Me:  Let’s also do some “tapping” and release that belief that you’re being “salesy” and…..

Client:  Yes!

Me:  And then we can look at when would be a good time for you to offer an on-line course…

Client:  Yes!

This client went on to get a new client sign up the very next day.

Sometimes, you just have to tweak your marketing and mindset to get the results you want.

Is this you?

  1. Offering an online program when your list is less than 1000 people?
  2. Writing a book when you don’t write a regular ezine/blog?
  3. Spending lots of money on branding when you don’t have a client base?
  4.  Planning big, fancy programs when you don’t have a client base?
  5. You procrastinate on cold calling because it’s not fun?
  6. You avoid networking events and instead create programs on your computer?

If you answered “yes”  to any or all of the questions above, I get it.

We’ve all been there.     Good for you for answering truthfully.  For your business to really grow the way it should, you need to be strategic with everything you do.

For some of you, it will be easy to start being more focused.  But, most of us, including me, always need guidance to keep us on point.  If you’d like to get that guidance, I’d like to invite you to apply for a complimentary    Business Breakthrough Session (value $350) with me.  Here’s how to get started: http://www.tinyurl.com/bizbreakthru
