You’ve probably heard this motivational quote before.

“What would you attempt to do if
you knew you could not fail?”
~Robert Schuller

The purpose is to encourage you to take more and more significant action to reach your dreams.

In today’s training, I want to focus in on a different aspect of this.  What if you do fail?  (Ok, before going any further, if you’ve worked with me or attended any of my events, you’ll know that I don’t like that word).

It’s entirely possible things won’t go according to plan as you take action.  That might mean things are taking longer than expected, cost more money, using more of your valuable resources, and you get “no’s.”

What often happens is that when things don’t go according to plan, you’re likely to crumble, pull the covers over your head, and retreat to the Comfort Zone, declaring that taking that type of action was a huge mistake!

You’ll probably tell yourself things like:

•    Who was I to think I could be successful at this?
•    Success is meant for others
•    If I were cheaper/less expensive, they would have said “yes.”
•    If I were (fill in the blank) this would have gone easier
•    And, so on.

When you go down that negative path, you’re going down a road of self-destruction.

Quite simply, you’re giving your power away to someone or something else.  You’re making it all about that person/thing defining your self-worth.

That’s not good.

If you’re always looking for external validation, your confidence level will continuously rise and fall.  When people say “yes” to your offer, you’ll feel like a winner.  When they say “no” and refuse, you’ll feel like a loser and take this as rejection.  When projects complete efficiently, you’ll feel confident, and when they have glitches, you’ll feel like a failure.

Stop that!

Stop giving your power away.

One of the most important things I teach my client is to learn how to be grounded, which includes validating themselves.  Whether they have lots of success or less at a particular time, it doesn’t define who they are.

If you’re always able to show up for yourself (and as a result, for others) consistently confident, you’re more likely to attract success your way.

I teach my clients to say that they are proud of themselves instead of waiting to hear that from me.  My opinion of them doesn’t truly matter as much as their opinion of themselves.  Once they understand how to determine their self-worth, they become unstoppable and show up in their brilliance.

What action will you take today?
