One thing I have learned from my business, is that this is a journey. The focus should not just be on the end result, but also the actual steps. After all, what’s the point of having something, if you don’t like the process to get there? That was a big lesson I learned. When I worked in the corporate world, the focus was always on the end result, but the process to get there was very stressful and not very fun.
The key, I’ve discovered, is to work on the journey regularly in ways that I enjoy. It’s what I teach my clients, too. One way I demonstrate that is by comparing a solopreneur’s journey to planting seeds. To have a seed turn into a beautiful flower, you must give the seeds the right amount of water, sunshine, food, and soil on a frequent basis. After all, if you don’t water your flowers for days, they may die. If you don’t have client attraction/ retention activities scheduled regularly, you will notice a decline in your business, too.
Recently, I planted some sunflower seeds of my own. I planted the seeds about a week ago and some have already grown an inch. It’s exciting each day to check on them and to see the flowers poke their heads through the soil as they start to grow. Although, I can’t wait to see the actual flowers bloom, it is so much fun to watch them grow. It makes me so happy to look at them each day. That’s what I share with my clients about the journey of growing their business. It should be fun, too. (Check out the photo below of my seeds starting to come up).
I do need to share with you that even before I actually planted the seeds, I saw them blooming. I always see the same success with my business even before I actually take action. Whenever I don’t, I use my special formula to change my mindset quickly so it is aligned with what I want.
Here are 3 Success Tips for your journey:
- Take time to enjoy the actual steps of the process. If you aren’t enjoying it, find out why. Perhaps you need to find different steps that you enjoy. Perhaps, the end result isn’t really what you want? I would suggest you figure out the reason; you might need to shift your mindset. When my clients are able to change their mindset through my process, it’s amazing how quickly they start attracting what they want.
- Share the process with others. Tell other like-minded friends or solopreneurs about what you are doing. Your positive energy and their positive energy will make it an even better experience.
- Come to the Ultimate Success Solutions Workshop in October, where I’ll be teaching more specifics about this process of growing your business using my special formula. (Grab your Early Bird Ticket NOW – http://www.successcoachingwithKate.com/uss )
Please share something that you really enjoy about your journey below:
Be Brilliant,
Success is the journey. I teach teams to enjoy the process because in that there are minor little celebrations that make work enjoyable.
Brilliant advice, as always. New projects always seem exciting, but I have a habit of taking on too much. Soon, they don’t feel so exciting. It would be better to realize that before starting or getting in too deep. I look forward to the October event and learning tools to help me get that early clarity with consistency.
PS I forgot to add something I really enjoy. Well, I love my work so there are lots of things, but here are a few: helping someone get deep clarity about their book concept; those aha moments when we know we’ve hit upon a winning concept or brilliant idea or addition to the book; helping someone get through a writing or personal block to achieve their dreams; holding my clients’ books in my hands and finally reading the published version; writing in the flow–whether it be a blog post, my own book, or just editing someone else’s work.
This is such an interesting post, Kate – enjoying the journey that we are on, the choices that we make, is such an important key to enjoying the life that we are given. I’m reminded of a quotation – I believe it was in one of Dr Wayne Dyer’s books, forgive me if I’m wrong – If you don’t like what you do, either change what you do or change how you think about what you do…
Having the courage to change what you do and become an entrpreneur is a deeply up-and-down process though, I love your idea to visualise clearly your desired outcome as part of your daily rituals…helped by EFT, of course!
