I work with solopreneurs at all different stages, some are newbies and some are in the mid-range and some are earning in the mid -to-high 6 figure range. Many of the solopreneurs who come to work with me have success at a certain level but they want to uplevel their business. They feel ready to grow and want to get their gift out in a bigger way. They’re tired of being stuck where they are. The problem is as much as they want this, they can’t figure out how to make it happen.
Sometimes, these solopreneurs don’t know the right business steps to take. They ask themselves questions, such as:
“Should I offer new products or change existing ones?
“Should I hire additional support?
“Should I raise my rates?
“Should I look for new, bigger, better ventures?
BUT, and this is a BIG BUT, their subconscious mind kicks in (and the subconscious mind is one million times stronger than their logical, conscious mind) has too many fears and doubts and that’s what keeps them stuck. They feel so much safer in their current comfort zone, even though it’s not perfect for them. There are a lot of different reasons for this, and I’m going to focus on one of them for this blog post.
A current client, Susan, recently had a mindset problem that was stalling the growth of her business. Here’s what she thought:
“…I start making money and then something bad happens….”
If Susan logically wants to make money, but is holding on to this belief that something will bad happen when she does, well, most likely, something bad will happen. Our thoughts attract our reality. That’s why it’s so important to get your thoughts aligned with what you want.
When you’re got that internal “tug-of-war” going on, nothing will happen. That’s one of the reasons you stay stuck!
As we worked together to release her belief, Susan came to understand that was an old story, it didn’t have to be her present reality. She could now make money and have good things happen. That became her new experience. Susan continued to make money and new opportunities and clients came to her. She recently raised her rates and is making an additional $1500 a month. She is now excited about making more money and the new possibilities that happen along with that.
If you’re feeling stuck with your own business growth, here are 3 Success Tips to help you get “unstuck”:
- Ask yourself these questions : What is the downside of being more successful? What am I afraid could happen? Make a list of each of these things.
- Objectively, look at each item and see if it has merit. Do you really believe it? If it doesn’t, cross it off the list.
- Look at the remaining items, and work towards clearing out those negative beliefs and replacing them with positive beliefs. I highly recommend using Tapping as it is the fastest way I know to make these mindset changes. I’m highly certified in this technique. It’s what I used for Susan and what I use with everyone who works with me to help them get very fast results.

Be Brilliant,
This is a timely reminder, Kate – how often do we forget(even if we have had it pointed out to us) that we are usually just as fearful of success, subconsciously, as of failure. Yes, I denied it emphatically when my first business coach made this suggestion, but Marianne Williamson’s quotation says it all – “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate…” – my favourite quotation & presented to me by that same coach.
Time to make that list & take action!
yes, we ask those questions and sometimes we don’t even ask those questions you have at the beginning. We get an idea and think we have to act on it right away–and that really gets us in trouble. It seems to me tapping is a great way to break that pattern, too.
It is amazing how being stuck is evidence of the inner world acting outwardly. This is also a common element with the team executives I coach as the team’s success begins to soar.
The mind is one of the most powerful tools we have for success but if our conscious and subconscious desires are not aligned we will become stuck … your success tips will help those who are stuck to move forward with unstoppable confidence.
I think the hardest part is to get the awareness that you are stuck or a fear is holding you back. It seems we are constantly chipping away at those inhibitors. I like your tips because I think asking ourselves these questions helps identify those fears.
