I hate to confess this but I was actually “busted” a few weeks ago. Nope, not what you think..I wasn’t arrested, but it still felt bad to be “caught”. Here’s what happened.
Cali ate something she shouldn’t have (boy, some dogs move so fast!) and the Vet told me to bring Cali in immediately. Well, I’m not going to get into the graphic details of what they did at the Vet or the $400 bill. The “tech” came out to me and said “Kate, you’re busted”. I looked at her not understanding what the heck she was talking about. From Cali’s treatment, they discovered that I didn’t just feed her the “recommended” special diet canned food but also gave her some scrambled eggs that morning. BUSTED! I was caught! Truthfully, I shouldn’t have given Cali the other food – it’s not as good for her. But, when she looks at me (if you’re a dog owner or parent of a small child, you’ll know what I’m talking about) it’s hard to say “no“.
When she gives me that look…I give her the treat. She’s just so very cute. However, I’m not really doing her any favors because she shouldn’t be eating this food.
The reason I’m telling you this story is to think about your own business and when you’ve not done things you should have or you’re doing things you shouldn’t. Who’s there to “bust” you?
When you’re an entrepreneur, you’re on your own. Who’s there to tell you to stay focused…to get something done today? My coach keeps me on track and I keep my clients on track…but what about you?
Think about this past week. What were the things you were supposed to go but didn’t? Or maybe you started something and didn’t complete it.
Take a few minutes now to make that list. How many items are on the list…1, 5, 20….maybe 50?
When you don’t do something that needs to be done, you’re really only cheating yourself. You’re the one that is going to pay the consequences.
As I write this blog, I’m making a commitment to Cali to keep her healthier. Starting now. I believe Cali is so totally worth it. Aren’t you worth it, too?
What commitment will you make to you and your business …starting now?
Be Brilliant,
