It’s all about the “green”

How many times today did you think about money? What about this past week or month? I believe as entrepreneurs, we must think about money more than most industries – not including, bankers, traders and the like.

Money affects all we do. What we can say yes to, and what we must regrettably pass on.

That was my story in the beginning of my business and it totally slowed me down. I was in “victim mode”, about what I could and couldn’t do. Most of the time I thought I had the short-end of the stick. It was all about my budget and how much was or wasn’t in my bank account.

It was such a conflict because I was trying to grow a business out of something I was passionate about, yet, I didn’t have the cash to do it. There were lots of days I dreamed about going back to Corporate where things seemed “easier”.

What changed for me was changing my money story and my relationship to money. I worked hard at it, hired the resources to help me and things changed. Part of it is due to the fact I grew up watching the television show Bewitched where I believed that anything was possible. As a result, I believe that anything is possible for me…and also for you.

Let’s try an exercise. For today, anytime something comes up for you that involves money that you want:

Say “yes” and “pretend” that you have the funds for it.

Take notice of how you feel to be able to say yes (instead of quickly thinking about how much money is or isn’t in the bank). Do you feel lighter? More confident? Excited?

Imagine what will happen as a result of you saying “yes”. What are all of the really cool things that will happen? Make a long list of these things.

Imagine if you could do this all of the time. What would be different in your life? How would you feel if that was possible? What growth would your business have?

Understand that you can change your relationship with money to accelerate your success. I’ve done it. I’ve taught others to do it. It is possible – no matter what your story or your age.

It all begins with you making a decision that this is important and getting the support to do so.
