After months in a boot from breaking my foot, and then physical therapy for healing, I am returning back to normal activity.
I was getting a craving to go back to yoga (it had been several years). And, it’s been amazing. During a super, busy time for me, yoga has been a huge help in bringing me back to center and grounding me.
My first lesson from yoga. You see, it’s not all about the poses or how long you can hold them.
Here’s what my yoga instructor taught us last time in class.
Depending on how much effort and vigor you put in, will determine the results you get.
She was referring to how far we stretch ourselves. There was no judgement in her voice. She was merely making us aware as everyone’s body moves differently and has different function. It’s up to us how far we push ourselves.
Breathing in. My mantra is: “I take personal responsibility”.
Breathing out. My mantra is: “I let go of taking things personally”.
The teacher walked around the class, helping those of us who needed it. Whispering quietly to us, to not disturb the other, what would improve our various positions. Helping us maneuver where needed.
She had me shift my arms slightly, move my feet forward and pull my shoulder blades tighter together. As an outside observer, you’d hardly notice the difference. But, for me, these subtle changes totally felt different in my body, gave me more strength to hold the position longer and it was a more enjoyable experience.
Somehow, everything always is related to everything else. There is no separation.
Her words reminded me of our experience as entrepreneurs. The more we choose to stretch ourselves, the greater experience we will have. It’s up to us if we choose to move forward.
And, if we do choose to put more “vigor” into our own work experience, we have the mentors and resources to guide us how to improve what we are doing and get a better result.
High heels, bare feet or sneakers.
It’s all whatever we choose.
