Sometimes things have to get worse before they get better.

Professional and personal life often go hand in hand, don’t you agree?

As you may have seen me post on social media a few weeks ago, Cali (my 4-legged child) had an emergency visit to CCU (critical care unit) which was quite scary. I didn’t sleep at all that night she stayed over.  I was able to take her home the next day, but for almost two weeks, I was on hyper-alert to Cali and how she was feeling.  Truthfully, I cried a lot during that time watching her in so much pain. It was one of the most frightening times in my life.

Then, the strangest thing started happening a few weeks later.  Cali began acting like a 12-year old dog.  What makes this so unusual is that she’s 15 years old.  She started having more energy, was more playful, and seemed happier.

I started to think about what happened to make this transformation possible- something I like to think about as a “miracle.”

What did I do differently to allow this to happen?

  • I refused to give up
  • I gave Cali lots of extra TLC
  • I consulted experts
  • I focused on the good (no matter how minor it was)

So, what happens when I bring that awareness into my business?

  • I refuse to give up (sometimes, lots of mindset work is required to maintain this attitude)
  • I give myself lots of extra TLC (I’ve revised my daily routine to include more)
  • I consult my coaches for their best advice and strategies
  • I continually focus on the good (no matter how minor and no matter how hard some days, I search for it).

Amazing things have been happening.

All of these actions are part of the “year of choosing me” and making myself a priority, which includes taking the best care of me that is possible.

I don’t know what the future holds for Cali and me, but, for today, it’s a good day.

My best advice to you as you go through your own journey is to look for the good.  Every day.  In fact, do this exercise many times during the day.  Keep reminding yourself that “today is a good day”.

Choose you,

Kate
