A few days ago, I tripped, fell and broke my toe and ended up in what feels like a 20 pound “boot“. Interestingly, I got comments from entrepreneurs asking if I ever slow down? Their question made me really curious. After all, why would I want to slow down as I have so many great things going on – both personally & professionally – including a fabulous 3 day event in just a few weeks.
Peoples’ expectations of how they would handle something that go in the way for them really surprised me. I had the impression that any roadblock would stop them . It made me wonder, if they were driving somewhere and they hit construction, would they turn around and head home. What if they had been driving 15 minutes? 30 minutes? 1 or 2 hours? How quick were they to turnaround and head home?
The reason this really bothered me if I prefer the expression to “find a way” rather than “it is what it is”.
For the heck of it, say aloud :”it is what it is“….now say “I’m going to find a way“. Can you feel in your body the difference in how those 2 expressions feel. The first puts you in victim mode where the second puts you in a place of power.
Out of curiosity, how often do you let things keep you from being successful? Take a few minutes and make a list. They are holding you back from where you want to be.
Perhaps, these apply to you:
– You don’t know how …
-You don’t have the time…
-Your friends don’t think you should do it…
-You don’t have the resources…
-You’re afraid it won’t work out…
-You’re afraid it will work out…
-or the biggie…you don’t have the money….
Are these excuses really true?
We all know people (maybe you’re one of them) who say they “don’t have the money” but find the money to go on vacation, get their kids
new sneakers or music lessons. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
Take a look at the decisions you’re making in your business. Maybe there are times that you say to yourself that you don’t have the money.
So … is it REALLY about the money? Or are you just finding another excuse hold yourself back? Maybe its not even one that’s yours but one that you were told? What if it’s one that someone else wanted for you. Maybe its one you adopted because of what someone else wanted for … instead of what you wanted for you? Isn’t it time to leave that behind?”
Ultimately, you are responsible for the success you have or don’t have. Are you ready to “find a way“? If so, join me at The Wealthy Solopreneur.com
