I’ve found it’s so easy as an entrepreneur to get off track and go in the wrong direction. When it happened to me, I felt overwhelmed, stressed and frustrated. In retrospect, it always happened when I didn’t ask myself this question. Instead, I would get swayed by B.S.O.S (Bright Shiny Object Syndrome), F.O.M.O (Fear Of Missing Out), or sometimes, just plain flattery. Then, later, I’d want to kick myself for doing something so foolish.

Yup, it’s easy to play Monday morning quarterback and be critical of ourselves. But as we all know, that doesn’t move us forward, instead it erodes our self-confidence.

On the flip side, I find that when I take the time to ask myself this question and really listen for the answer, I always end up feeling good about my decisions. And, get much better results!

So what is the question you ask?

The question is: “Does this honor me?”

I know it sounds so simple, yet, most entrepreneurs (and people in general) never take the time to ask themselves this. Then, they wonder why they’re not having the success and happiness that they really want.

Now, I confess, I didn’t make that question up. I learned it from an amazing mentor (Sandy Taylor, best-selling Hay House author) a zillion years ago, just before I started my business. In fact, when I first heard that question, quite honestly, I didn’t even know what it meant.

And what does “honor me” actually mean?

Over the years, I’ve developed a lot of clarity and deeper understanding about this subject. And I believe this is actually one of the most powerful questions that we need to ask ourselves on a daily basis.

For me, I got really clear that “honor” means helping me live my best life. A life full of brilliance, happiness, and love. A life where I feel really grounded so no matter what has happened or will happen, I always feel safe. A life where I care more about what I think and feel, than worrying about what the crowd is doing. A life where I am able to be authentic. A life where I get to experience new ventures and travel to amazingly, beautiful destinations. A life where I continue to grow. Lastly, a life where I am able to make an impact and create a legacy empowering others to fully show up in their brilliance.

What does “honor” mean to you? Take some time today and journal about that. Find a nice quiet place where you can really thing about this and gain clarity.

Believe it or not, the more I listen to my own inner wisdom (less to the noisy crowd) and trust myself, the more successful my business becomes, the more opportunities I receive, the more I enjoy my clients and the more fun my life becomes. Interesting how that works 🙂 .
