I never in a million years thought I’d be cutting my own bangs. I’m the type who schedules several hair salon appointments at a time. I also never thought I’d enjoy cleaning my home as I’ve had my home professionally cleaned for as long as I can remember. Truthfully, I love this quiet time where I listen to something motivational and focus on the pride and pleasure I have of my home.
There was a supermarket that I loved going to before the pandemic. I liked the assortment they sold and even their name brands were of wonderful quality. At first, I was very impressed with how they were handling things and the new safety restrictions. Until every time I went grocery shopping, it turned into a 2-hour event between waiting in line to get in the store, shopping with all of the limits of “1 per customer” and waiting to pay. On top of all that, they were attracting a lot of rude customers who didn’t maintain social distance or wear masks. It was frustrating, annoying, and stress-provoking.
That was until a neighbor told me about another supermarket that was nearby. No waiting in line and huge assortments of goods. I was so happy I could have danced! Is the quality always as good as my original market? No. But, it doesn’t matter because I am happier. I let go of the trendy market and followed my intuition to a place of bliss and ease.
There have been so many firsts since the pandemic began.
Some of you are even baking your bread and doing home repairs! While that’s not me, congratulations to those of you jumping in!
One of the big things I believe in and teach is to delegate. Especially delegate if you can find someone can do it better and easier than you can. Spending our time in our Zone of Brilliance is a smarter move than fiddling around to see if we’re trimming our bangs evenly. Let the professionals do it. It saves time and money in the long run.
But, during the pandemic, when I’ve had to do things on my own I would never typically do, something significant occurred to me and it helped me let go of even more of my perfectionist side. Good enough is good enough.
Here’s the deal. I could spend forever worrying if I am trimming my bangs perfectly or coloring my roots correctly. All that will do is add more stress to an already challenging situation.
Instead, I’ve made a point to focus on what’s most important to me. Right here and right now.
My bangs are not a priority.
I push my bangs to the side, so unless I close my eyes while trimming, I do a reasonably decent job. Hair grows. Even if I didn’t do a great job, my hair would grow back. I wouldn’t be in danger of causing that much permanent damage. So, I watched a short YouTube video, got my scissors (just a regular one I had in my house), held my breath, and snipped! The uncomfortable task is done. Next!
What is most important to me is that I do things that ground me and keep me happy and healthy during this challenging time. From there, I pass along my teaching and guidance to my clients and community. Of course, taking care of my 4-legged girl always takes priority, and she continually reminds me lest I forget. This mindset keeps me in my Zone of Brilliance. A little secret, the more grounded you are, the easier it is to attract the abundance you desire.
My message to you is don’t worry if the little stuff isn’t perfect. In the long run, it doesn’t matter. Bangs grow back. Baseball caps and hair accessories cover up temporary mistakes.
Focus on what’s most important to you and let go of perfection. You’ll be much happier.
In the Laws of Attraction, joy is always in the journey.
Have fun. There is no end because the journey is always ongoing. Since there is no “real” end or “final” point, you can throw out the vision of being perfect. It doesn’t matter when you understand that things are always changing, growing, flowing, and moving. Enjoy.
