What if I told you that you were making things much more difficult than they need to be?  It’s true.  I see you online doing all of this fancy-dancy stuff.  That is great to do if you’ve got the extra resources to play with, but, truthfully, you’re missing (and skipping) one of the biggest steps to getting more ideal clients.

I’ll bet you’re wondering what I was going to tell you to do.  So, after I tell you, be prepared that it will be a light-bulb moment for you!

When you’re talking to your prospective clients, whether it’s directly or through marketing avenues, are you telling them how you can fix their problem or are you making all about you?

Here’s what I mean.  If you spend all of your time talking about your process, your features and your degrees, you may easily repel people.  

However, when you focus on what your ideal client’s problem is, they will come running to you.

Before, we go even further, do you know what your ideal client’s problem is?  Do you know what keeps them up at night?  What are their pain points?  What would they be “over-the moon” (the phrase I always use) thrilled about if you could solve for them? 

If you don’t the answers, I highly recommend you ask them.  And, if you think you know, I suggest you go back, and double check as things may change as you have more clarity and have grown in your business.

Next, make sure your marketing is focused on them- not on you.  If I see one more glam shot of an entrepreneur in high, high heels…I will, well, I don’t know what I’ll do.  But, I can tell you right now, I quickly gloss over anything like that promoted on social media.  My clients tell me they do the same as it repels them. 

Remember, that old adage.  WIIFM.  What’s in it for me?  Use that.  

Go implement these two action steps and start changing your approach.  By the way, did you notice that these are things that you can perform yourself if you choose?  Nicely done!
