Have you noticed are things are *always* changing on social media?  The social media platforms are constantly tweaking and changing (and not always  for the better).  What works well one week may not work at at all the next.  With all of these changes, it is more important than ever to “tend to your own garden” and concentrate on the things you do control.  Creating quality content on your blog is always a winning strategy no matter what is happening with your favorite social media tools.

Why aren’t you blogging more?  Most likely, you haven’t gotten into the habit, or maybe you feel like you don’t have time to write everyday? Or, is it that you feel like you are talking and nobody is listening.  Well, I have good news for you.  Here are some hints to help you share more content with your audience — and through the power of social media – expose your blog to hundreds of new readers.

1.  You don’t need to create all of the content you post on your blog.  If you see an interesting video or a thoughtful blog post — share it.  (See my 10 minute blog post post for more information on how to do that).  To make this not cheating – you need to add 100 words or so at the top explaining to your audience why you thought the post was relevant.

2. Create a plan.  One of the easiest ways to increase your blogging frequency is to create an editorial calendar.  For example, on Mondays post about marketing, on Wednesday, share videos, maybe cap off the week with a summary of posts you’ve seen and liked from other participants on Fridays.  Get out a spreadsheet and plan out your month.  You can be flexible – but at least you’ll know what to write if you get stuck

3. Collaborate.  Connect with other bloggers in your niche.  Comment on their blogs, tweet the blogs, share on Facebook and they will likely reciprocate. Offer to do guest posts for other people — and have them write on your blog.  This is a great way to meet “new” people and get new links on your site.

4. Make it a Priority  Commit to blogging — don’t just post once and give up.  Even posting once a week consistently is better for your website traffic than posting for several days, stopping for months and then starting up again.  Regular posting keeps your audience engaged.
