the-voiceDid you know that by watching The Voice, you’ll actually learn how to be a better entrepreneur?

If we’re friends on Facebook, you may have noticed I post a lot about the show. And now, I want to share some of those words of wisdom with you:

1.  The premise in the beginning of the show is that the coaches (Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Pharrel Williams and Christina Aguilera) are seated facing backwards while a contestant has 90 seconds to sing and make a strong enough impression that the coach presses his/her button to vote they want that person on their team.

Dramatically, their chair turns around and it says “I want you”. 90 seconds. That’s all they have.  Their whole future depends on this.

How long do you have to make a great first impression? According to an article in Forbes Magazine, you have 7 seconds to get that potential client/customer to start to think “I want you!” Are you making the most of that time?

2. One of the coaches, Adam Levine, was initially having a hard time filling his team. His pitch to potential contestants was always about him – not about them.   No one was choosing him and he was getting really frustrated.

Think about when you’re speaking to potential clients – is your conversation about you – or about them?

Interestingly enough, as Adam switched his strategy and came from more of a heart-centered place and made the conversation about the contestants, he was chosen more frequently as their coach. As a result, he was the first coach to fill his team

3.  After the contestants get chosen from the “Blind Auditions” they get support and advice from their coach and a guest coach (past guests have included: Stevie Nicks, Lionel Ritchie, Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys and many other great artists). Great advice one contestant received was to “Be the artist you see yourself being when you perform.”

Are you doing that in your business? Are you asking yourself who you need to be to accomplish all that you want?

4.  The last piece of advice I’ll share with you was to be “coachable”. This particular coach told the contestant that he’d be more likely to have success on the show if he was open to their suggestions instead of assuming that he already knew how to do everything.

In your business, are you getting the help of an expert coach or are you assuming you know how to do everything on your own?

I hope you’ll use these very important keys to success to help you to up-level your business.

Be Brilliant,
