Hire a coach or get a new boiler for your house? Hire a VA or pay for a math tutor for your daughter? What’s an entrepreneur to do? Entrepreneurs are always facing these decisions. Decisions they shouldn’t have to make.
I was recently at a networking event where an entrepreneur I just met was struggling with that. She and her husband had “discussed” whether she should hire a VA or pay for a math tutor. He expected her to take care of her family first, business was second. She agreed because she wanted to be a good “mom” but she knew she was also hurting her business.
The reason she wanted to hire a VA (virtual assistant) was because her business was growing and she needed additional support. She was already working every possible waking hour and still couldn’t keep up. As a result, she was constantly feeling stressed out, overwhelmed and tired.
I’ve worked with many private clients who are facing similar hard choices. Hire a social media expert or get a piano lessons for their son? Hire a coach or take their children on vacation? They want to be the best parent they can be. That makes sense. They want to give their children everything possible. But, when there are limited funds, “mompreneurs” have been making choices. Hard choices. It often feels like a “no win” decision to them. Sometimes, it feels like a “sacrifice” even though they don’t want to admit it. Then, there’s guilt about making the wrong decision. Ultimately, what ends up happening is a lot of negative mindset stuff — but, that’s a topic for another article. You shouldn’t have to make those hard choices.
Now, I could give you all sorts of important reasons of why if you were faced with a similar dilemma you should handle the situation differently. Using the example of hiring the VA (but this applies to any additional resource you need for your business)
1) If you aren’t able to hand off some tasks to a VA, you’ll end up so overworked, you’ll have nothing left over to give your family. (I was a flight attendant years ago, and we used to always tell passengers to put the oxygen mask on themselves first. There’s a reason for that).
2) But, if you are able to hand off some tasks, you’ll have more time with your family. You’ll feel more relaxed. That’s a really good thing.
3) Also, by hiring that VA, you will be able to grow your business by having time to do the things in your business that you love. That results in more money. When you make more money, you’ll have the extra cash to take care of these additional expenses as they come up.
But, I also want you to understand there’s another option. What if you didn’t have to make those hard choices? What if you could say “yes” to what you needed to. NOW. Wouldn’t that make things so much easier for you?
So, here’s another suggestion. Start looking for ways to have the Quick Cash Infusion when you need it. There are lots and lots of ways to do that. Once you start focusing on that, you’ll be surprised at how quickly the money comes in.
