Hi [First Name],

That song by Kelly Clarkson has been playing in my head all weekend.        36977404_s

Over the past Independence Day,  I remembered that one of the biggest reasons I started my own business was to have freedom and independence.  I didn’t want to have to “report” to anyone.  I wanted to decide when and where I would work.

It took me awhile to achieve that in my business.  In the beginning, I was working round the clock.  Also, I wasn’t so sure how much I liked my new boss (me).

There’s that old joke that people become entrepreneurs so they can work in their pajamas at 6 am or at midnight.  In reality, they actually end up working both times.  Yikes!

It’s so interesting that most people started their business because they had a dream.  They also wanted freedom: financial freedom and the freedom to decide what to do instead of being told what to do. The problem is that most entrepreneurs don’t ever achieve those freedoms.

Take a moment to reflect.  Are you still chasing the freedoms you sought when you became an entrepreneur? Are you working even more hours than when you had a job but making less money.

If the answer is yes, why is that?

I believe it’s because many entrepreneurs don’t know how to plan, strategize and market their business so it stands out in the market place.  Also, their mindset isn’t aligned with what needs to be done and isn’t in a place of abundance.

Here’s an important question for you:

Who’s the most valuable employee in your business?

The answer should be you.

My next question for you is:  Are you paying yourself first?  If not, that’s where you need to start.
