Ever do something and then want to (gently) kick yourself in the butt for what you choicesdid?

I was at a training recently and one of the presenters was giving away a prize. He was picking the winner by the old tried and true method of having everyone guess a number. The person who chose closest – without going over – would be the winner. Sounds easy enough. The prize was worth $500.

I said my number and then listening to others choose their number, I did something I rarely do. I doubted myself.  I changed my mind and gave a new number. Before announcing the winner, the presenter looked at me and said if I had stuck with my initial choice, I would have been the winner. Instead, I walked out empty-handed. I definitely didn’t like how that felt.

It was a $500 and very costly mistake. I can promise you I won’t do that again.

How many times have you changed your mind or not trusted your intuition and later been disappointed with how the results turned out? Admit it…because we’ve all done it.

The truth is your intuition always knows what is best for you. The problem is you don’t always hear it or listen to it because your fears and doubts get in the way.

Take a few minutes and think about the most recent time you didn’t listen to your intuition. Was it because you didn’t trust the other thing…or was it that you didn’t trust yourself? (Are you getting a big “aha” right now?)

Here are a few ways to help you get more in touch with your intuition:

1. Journal or write down what is popping up for you as you make the decision. See how much is “fact” and how much is “fear” and “emotion based” and make your decision from there. (This can be difficult at times as you can stay stuck in your own story and believe that it is “fact” when, in reality, it isn’t.)

2. Ask yourself what you would say to a very close friend?  Or, a lot of people like to ask higher power for wisdom.

3.  Talk to your coach/mentor to help you separate fact from fiction.

One of the biggest mistakes most people make is that they don’t realize the power of their fears. They end up operating from a place of fear instead of power and later rationalize their actions. By doing that, you’re most likely to never get what you ultimately want in life. That means you won’t have the business and life you love.  You won’t have the business success you want.

AND that would truly be a shame.

Always, listen to your internal guidance system.  Make sure you’re coming from a place of power and not from a place of fear.

Be Brilliant,
