You would think this would be easy.   success

But, it’s not.

To walk into a room full of strangers and network successfully.

You’re supposed to walk in, with a big smile on your face, a handful of business cards and walk away having made lots of money.  You give your “elevator pitch” to lots of ideal clients who can’t wait to hand over their business (and credit) card.

But, that never happens.   Does it?

Instead, you feel uncomfortable and people start to get that “deer in the headlights” look when they listen to you talk about your business.  They smile politely and move on.   You’re left standing there, feeling foolish and silently declare you’ll never go to a networking event again.

What a waste of an evening!

Well, it doesn’t have to be.

Here’s what I used to think.   That it was a room full of strangers with business cards and person who left with the most at the end of the night was a winner.  I went home with a lot of cards, but I didn’t necessarily enjoy myself or get the most clients doing this.  Then, I started doing things differently and got fabulous results.  This has significantly impacted my income and the amount of amazing opportunities that come my way.

Here are 3 powerful tips to help you improve your networking skills:

  1. Most people you meet at a networking event also feel uncomfortable.  The difference between them and you is that they’ve gotten used to getting out of their comfort zone.  The more you go, the easier it will be.

  1. One of my clients, who was new to marketing her business, complained that she had a bad experience when she would go out networking.  I had her change her experience.  She got better results and enjoyed it 100% more.

  1. The money is in the follow up.  Make sure you have time set aside after you network, to follow up with the people you’ve met.  Even better, create a system to make it nice and easy for you to follow up.  No reason to keep reinventing the wheel.

I have a challenge for you.  Networking is always done in a formal setting.  In fact, many of the best connections you’ll ever get are from things that happened accidentally.  Perhaps, you were at the gym, out walking, at the supermarket….and you start a conversation with a stranger and BAM!  You get a really cool contact.  I challenge you to start a conversation with a stranger today and see what happens.  Amazing things are waiting for you if you will open up the doors of possibilities.

I know that successful networking is an art.  My advantage over most of you is that my Mother is an expert. so growing up it was taught to me and has become second nature.  Even for an introvert like me.  When I was a Business Development Executive, I had to learn really quickly how to get fabulous results, as my boss was constantly judging me.  It was sink or swim.

Community is key for me, which is why at The Money Zone Event, I’m going to be teaching everything from “soup to nuts” on attracting (and keeping) ideal clients.

To build a successful business you need to know:

  • Where to find ideal clients
  • How to set up strategy sessions with them
  • What to say during these sessions
  • How to transition from the conversation to the offer
  • What to offer
  • What is the magic price point

And, so much more
