I confess to putting sweatpants over my pajamas when I clean the snow off of my 20321960_scar first thing in the morning after a snowstorm instead of getting dressed.

I confess to singing songs (to Cali) first thing in the morning.  It makes me happy and she puts up with my voice.

I confess to putting the music up loud and singing and dancing just because.

I confess to caring too much about my clients’ success because I know how valuable their gift is – even when they have days when they don’t always see it.

Most of us are brought up believing we have to show the perfect, put-together side of us. It’s the mask we wear.  The problem is when we only show that side of us, there’s no place for people to really connect with us.  I believe that most entrepreneurs wear their “perfectionism” as if it was a badge of honor.

Many entrepreneurs hide behind their titles, certifications and degrees.  I know when I first started my business, I did.  I didn’t know better.  The truth is that most people don’t really care about that in the entrepreneurial world. Basically, all most people really want is someone who can help them get the results that they really want in the way they said they would do it.

In fact, I discovered that the more vulnerability I showed, the more clients I got.  That’s because people were able to relate to me better.  They knew (deep down) that I “got it” and could relate to them and ultimately, help them.

Connection developed because of this.  My community grew because of connection.  My business continues to up-level because of connection.

Now, caring so much about my clients’ success, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to let that go.  I believe it’s important for me to hold that space for them and support them on those days that they really need it.  However, I do realize that only they can do the work for themselves.

My challenge for you today is to show the not so “perfect” side of yourself to your community and see what happens.

Be Brilliant,
